unlimited cake

"i had three chairs in my house: one for solitude, two for friendship, three for society."
- henry david thoreau (american essayist, poet and philosopher, 1817-1862)

a found friend, fine and fortuitous; a faceless twist of happenstance:
i am a happier person today than i was a month ago.

  1. I can't help but think that there is more to the simplicity of the ambiance here than immediately meets the eye.
The quote you give made me think of that one by Carlos V (aka Charles V, "Emperor" of the Holy Roman Empire), something about speaking different languages to different people. Not the same thing, of course, but it reminded me of it.
    Where's the third chair?

  2. Wow, that is one artsy photo.
Love the strong contrast in the brick floor, love the way you put the chairs way up in the top of the compisition. Is your talent unlimited? That Yashica is one great machine piloted by one great human being.

  4. I am not sure how it came to be, but I like how the light is so diffuse, almost foggy, an embrace of glow bringing the bright day inside.

  5. Thoughtful post and superb image Lynn. I love the 'this is what I show you, it's up to you to complete the scene' effect.

  6. Beautiful. Wonderful post, Lynn. Happiness measured by the month?

  7. The third chair, Gabriel? Perhaps the one you sit on now - or perhaps mine. Lynn's images give a public face to private happiness: to the insights of a golden heart and eye. Each of us dreamed of such a friend and found her here, giving herself to the world and to us, welcoming with smiles, "unlimited cake" and the transmuting light of an alchemical soul. Family, friend or company, we are blessed to sit with her.
