home sweet home

we don't have landscapes* "as far as the eye can see" here in the netherlands; with
few exceptions, the spires of the church in the next village are always visible on the horizon. but the landscapes we DO have are comfortably characteristic, if lacking in drama: patchwork fields, cummerbunds of brilliant colour in spring, canals, and - here and there - a placid windmill. it may not be a spacious land, but it is a beautiful one.

(*photo friday's theme this week, and, no, i didn't scan a picture-postcard, i promise!)

  1. thanks a lot for your honest comment... i appreciate it very much...
as for this picture... it's again the proof that you fel in love with the country you live in, that's obvious... the way you capture the beauty of this land speaks for itself
me... i love the presence of the sea nearby and besides that, (i miss this in my country) i couldn't leave without mountains
ps what bothers me a bit is the feeling that i live in an openair museum - bruges - this way it looses its authenticity for a great part

  4. Agree about the landscape, in Belgium we have a *little* more variety, but the peoples landscape must be one of the most diverse of the world. I just love the Netherlands.

  7. Lynn, notice how different the sky came out on this one? Hardly a solid block of color at all. Were the skies as different to the naked eye as they are in the pictures?
