an autumn day can be an imagemaker's dream in the netherlands, with a pure, crisp, glorious light, and colours that - joni mitchell says it perfectly - stick to all your senses.
it can also (think wet, grey, relentlessly matte) be an imagemaker's nightmare.
i'd like tomorrow to lean the first way.
please.
It is true. Sometimes though, even the wet grey relentlessly matte has its visual appeal and, from the photographic point of view, becomes a challenge in isolating subtle variations and layers between shadows. These day are good for "introvert" photography, reading a book while sipping some herbal tea, and longings for the far away spring.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, so very 'Netherlandish'! The ditch, the green of the grass (even in the late fall), the clouds in a sky that starts with almost white at the horizon and is an intense blue up above. And tomorrow it promises to be reasonably good as well. Let's wait and see.
ReplyDeleteVery Dutch indeed, I was going to write someting in the same sense as Wim had done, so I won't. But I share his idea. Love the clouds, a sort of opening in the middle, the clouds in the sides of the picture. As if they are making way for the road to continue.
ReplyDeleteA road to nowhere? Surely not. All roads lead to...
Ooo, even the clouds draw the eye to the focal point and increase the feeling of perspective - a great image - picturesque.
ReplyDeleteGiven ample autumn sun and enveloping skies, a photographers canvas is nearly complete even before the shutter is released. But gray days are not completely lost to those who dare look deeper for the hidden gems nature will provide if only we ask.
ReplyDeleteOk, that sounds like it could have come from a fortune cookie.
I do prefer sunny autumn days too and am hoping for such a day tomorrow when I head to portsmouth with my camera. I hope you have great photographers weather in the netherlands too, lynn!
Beautiful capture, by-the-way!
Very nice picture!
ReplyDeletePlease contact me for the eetclub as you didn't respond on the emails.
We're about to venture out on a mini-road trip today...this is a good image to send us off. Hope today is sunny, too. :)
ReplyDeleteWe did have a beautiful light that day- I even mentioned it to Han. I'm guessing that we must live in a grey world, for I always notice and love those days of piercing color.
ReplyDeletethis is the view i could see only from the train when i was in the netherlands. next time, i'd love to step into the scene! so beatiful.
ReplyDeletethe drawning perspective, the almost symmetri, the dutch greens and blues, the sheeps and typical clouds...
ReplyDeleteexceptionally beautiful lynn
It's a dang beauty. No more comments necessary as I would only repeat the postings above me :)
ReplyDeleteI love the open feel of this, gorgeous wanders of freedom ...
ReplyDeletewe are experiencing strangely warm weather, feels like spring instead of the brink of winter and the light is so super - I am hoping it holds until the weekend so I can get out there :)
sending you a wish of glorious light and colours that stick to your senses ...
My kind of scene. So relaxing with the expanse, especially when its so green. Great with the two fat sheep too.
