my memories of cape breton island - that grey, that wind, that wild, that wet - were gently, and retrospectively, altered when i picked up the images taken there.
i forgot the cold. i recalled the calm.
and the word "chill" took on a whole new meaning.

this is the horizontal - and cropped to panorama proportions - version.
that was the quietest place I will ever recall. Love the horizontal one too
ReplyDeleteGood that you had your well-earned rest.
ReplyDeleteFine photo to celebrate that.
What a beautiful, serene image. I can feel myself there now. We've missed you posts!
ReplyDeleteEngland has her Lake District, Italy has her Lake Maggiore in the mist, but only WE have Cape Breton. We have all been awaiting your images of this unique area - thank you, honey! It's never been more hauntingly captured -

so beautiful and calm looking, peaceful and moody ... lovely photo ...
ReplyDeleteCape Breton is a very beautiful place indeed. A little wet and cold of late but still beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThose rocks in the foreground of the photo make it so meaningful somehow. It is such a dark and grey photo, I hope it doesn't comply with your mood? You give us so much sky here, shattering the rule of thirds, but I cannot find it anything else but a great photo. The stripe of blue on the horizon attracts me somehow. To hell with the rule of thirds!
ReplyDeleteit's just so beautiful - i love the greenish tones.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful...
ReplyDeletegreat scene here. "i forgot the cold. i recalled the calm." even the photo has that effect, and i've never even been there!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful scenery !
ReplyDeleteTranquil and beautiful
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Cape Breton... this shot is a fair definition of "maritime"
ReplyDeletewow! just gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteTruly stunning, especially the panoramic.
ReplyDeleteI like the fog. Sometimes what you don't see is more than what you see...
