it was a balmy and beautiful day: weather for bare hands, and bare heads.
hallelujah.

rachel says it perfectly. weather MATTERS here. it's topic of conversation #1 with many.
topic of conversation #2 is the dutch railway system, but PLEASE don't get me started. i left work today at a quarter past five and got home at half past nine.
i am still winding down.
I love the weather. Generally speaking, not just sunny weather. I couldn't live in one of those places that always have the same weather; months of sun or months of rain would depress me equally. Give me our wonderful changeable, unpredictable weather! Hmmm, I think I'd make a great meteorologist.
ReplyDeleteSounds a bit like the UK, you know! Fixations with the climate and appalling transport infrastructure. What's happened to the formerly efficient Dutch railways? But isn't it good to cast off the gloves and hats and enjoy the breeze and sunshine. It uplifts the mood, even when the trains don't run on time!
ReplyDeletePossibly ... however, down here there is just a whiff of chill in the air ... slightly heavier slacks ... but still with a clingy top. Autumn in Sydney is bliss.
ReplyDeletewell, at least you HAVE a railway system, which is more than i can say for the states. unless of course you're lucky enough to live in one of the few cities with a subway. the subway rocks:) meanwhile, i'll keep walking.
ReplyDeletehurray for sunshine!
In Kurt Andersen's novel "Turn of the Century," he describes the sudden pleasure provided when the person you're supposed to meet for lunch cancels on you... An unforeseen boon comes into your life — kind of like not needing your gloves.
ReplyDeleteso simple well balanced image with the hopeful message 'in a short time you can leave your gloves on the table'
ReplyDeletefeel pity for you passing precious time on a train but i'm sure you fill in this time your way (good way)
have a good weekend lynn
ah, lynn, beautiful photo, but i always enjoy the words that go with them as well. the weather here today in wellington, nz is.... stunning. beautiful blue skies and sunshine, a slight breeze. the harbour is blue...
ReplyDeletei do not envy you your train ride, that sounds like a very long commute, do you do that every day?
i thought my old metro commutes in seattle were bad! i did notice that i don't read as much now though - hope you at least had a good way to pass the time.
ReplyDeleteIf it rides, there's still hope ... maybe that was an opportunity to take pictures of people getting nervous and bored ;-)
ReplyDeleteEven though the English have insufferable weather, they at least have the good luck of its predictability...
ReplyDeleteI really like this - it's a beautifully simple image.
