a royal peculiar

i am not fond of orange, as i once mentioned, and i am definitely not fond of mass gatherings, so i will no doubt spend today curled up in a comfortable chair, with a
good book, and - in the back of my mind - yes, birthday thoughts: for an out-of-sight
(but not out-of-mind) friend.
happy queen's day, all.

  2. I am fond of orange and have to say this is awesome, and not just cause of the color. Love the simplicity, and abstract quality . It just makes me smile. Thank you!

  5. The Gator in me needs to remind you how wonderful orange looks when properly combined with blue.
These chairs look hideous to me, but you've crafted a really nice shot. Next year, put the album cover of Kind of Blue in, and see what happens...
Enjoy the day as best you can!

  6. oh man -- great colors ... I'm not a fan of orange either -- but this shot makes me want to grab a coffee and a good photo book - and chill out for awhile :-)

  7. I love the colour orange Lynn - it is so warm and inviting. And the depth of texture you have composed here is mesmerising. The sofas remind me of those cacti things you see in Arizona ... wonderful shot. And the novel is my type of story. I will try to hunt it down here in the antipodes.

  8. When I was a kid we had a sofa identical to the one at the right. Same fabric, same color. Not very stylish, maybe, but incredibly confortable. I have spent countless hours reading comic books on it. Unfortunately it didn't survive the exuberance of me and my sister childhoods and it was changed at some point with a new one not nearly as confortable. Thanks for bringing these memories back.

  9. The colors works for me. Vibrant and eye-catching. Did you purposely left the black horizontal line between the 2 chairs? I cant decide if you would hv left it out d pic. turns out differently?

  12. Don't we often do the things we say we don't like; and I wonder what makes us say them (I mean the not liking)?
Witn you it is the orange, with me the symmetry... Love this photo (the simplicity again!)

  14. Lovely capture, Lynn. This sort of still-life is a bit of a departure for you, but you've done a wonderful job with this one.
